A journey of Mindfulness and gardening
Nurture Your Mind, Grow Your Garden

Everyday Mindfulness Practices
01
Mindful Breathing
Sit comfortably and focus on your breath. Inhale deeply for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, and exhale for 6 seconds. Notice the sensation of air moving in and out of your body.
02
Gratitude Journaling
Write down three things you’re grateful for today. Reflect on why these things bring you joy and how they improve your life.
03
Mindful Pause
Prepare a cup of tea or coffee and sip it slowly. Pay close attention to its temperature, aroma, and flavor. Take a few slow deep breathes in and let this moment bring you back to the present.
04
Planting Intentions
Set a personal intention while planting a seed or tending to a new sprout. As you cover the seed with soil, visualize your intention growing alongside the plant. Tend to this plant daily and visualize yourself tending to the intention.
05
Mindful Weeding
Pull weeds from your garden or backyard slowly and intentionally. As you do, focus on the process—the tug of the roots, the texture of the soil, and the space you’re clearing for new growth. Go slow and take in the moment.
06
Plant Care Meditation
Choose a plant to care for mindfully. Every day focus on watering it, gently touching its leaves, or observing its details for 2 to 3 minutes. Let yourself connect with its growth and vitality.
“Your mind is a garden; your thoughts are the seeds. The harvest will bring either flowers or weeds”

Meet the writer

Hi there, I’m Maylin, aka Zen Garden Gal. I’m a gardener and mindfulness enthusiast, passionate about sharing the peace and joy both can bring to the world.
For most of my life, I’ve struggled with anxiety and overthinking. Growing up in a chaotic environment didn’t help much so, I coped by chasing perfection and overachieving, hoping it would bring me the sense of control I craved.
In my mid-20s, I realized that this constant drive to do more wasn’t making me happy—it was leaving me drained and unfulfilled. That’s when I turned to mindfulness, learning to slow down and reconnect with the present moment. Gardening soon became a natural extension of this journey, offering calm and purpose in the simplest of acts.
Now, I’m here to help other women who feel stuck in the cycle of overachievement rediscover balance and joy. Through mindfulness practices and gardening, I believe we can all create a little more peace in our lives—one mindful moment, one planted seed at a time.
